FNB has provided an update on the uncapped LTE project it is running with iBurst.
FNB CEO Jacques Celliers said their pilot to test uncapped broadband over iBurst’s LTE network is going well.
Celliers did not reveal how many FNB Connect subscribers were on the trial, saying it was a “handful”.
The uncapped LTE pilot has been running since December, offering select FNB Connect subscribers a chance to test the service for free.
It launched after Multisource acquired Wireless Business Solutions, the parent of iBurst, at the start of November. The trial was initially set to finish at the end of February 2016.
FNB extended the trial twice, with the latest extension ending on 30 June. The bank said this is the last time it will be extended.
Two LTE networks
Celliers said there was confusion surrounding the bank’s use of two network providers and their respective LTE networks. FNB offers all its Connect clients LTE access via Cell C.
